The
mission of the Sustainable Enterprise Institute (SEI) is to promote more
sustainable practices within U.S. organizations, through greater understanding
of the important factors that promote organizational resilience and long-term
financial success and stability. SEI’s
focus and activities are predicated on the belief that organizations that
understand and adroitly manage their environmental and social obligations are
more likely to be able to anticipate and control business risks, and recognize
and capture opportunities to build their brands, maintain and expand their
markets and customers/constituents, and generate new cash flows. To translate this belief into action, SEI
conducts programs and activities designed to stimulate new thinking, develop
new knowledge and tools, develop human capital and strengthen organizations,
and catalyze productive changes in public policy and corporate behavior. In the aggregate, these changes will make
U.S. companies and public sector organizations more effective, efficient,
resilient, innovative, profitable/financially sound, and in the long term,
successful. In others words, we aspire
to make American organizations more sustainable.
